Natural Light and Shadows: Dealing with it by using reflectors
In this setup I use natural light only.
The sunlight shining through a big window is key. A gold disc reflector is used to bring light levels higher in the right upper portion of the subject. Care should be taken that this does not create a difference in apparent light direction from that which exists in the rest of the frame. Shadows falling in different directions will leave a feeling that “something is wrong.”
- The main light (key light) here is the sun shining trough a big dirty window
- Thefill in is a gold disc reflector (Ø42″/100cm). The light is gently reflected back on the model’s right half.
- The ISO is set a bit higher to influence the overall ambient light characteristic.
- Photoshop: Model skin & make-up retouched, general brightness/contrast, b/w adaption & levels adjustments
