Colorful. Teasing. Charming. Warm. Wonderland Bedroom 🙂
The message I am going to create in this shoot is simple: “Teasing You The Romantic Way”.
Attributes are subtle, soft, warm and glamorous. The bedroom as chosen place supports the intimate atmosphere.
Experience Playmate Coxy Dominika in a charming and colorful scene, shot with 3 flash heads…
The Visual Approach
The visual approach is to create a glamour scene that lives from different light sources and characteristics.
I am combining limited flash light, color gels and candle light to get a mixed lighting situation. This creates distinctly appealing color tones and an overall visual modulation.
Beautification & Styling
For the styling I choose tonally neutral lingerie that does not add any extra colors – they do not interfere with the set’s mood and tone.
The hair style is overall smooth and straight, only the stronger lip color once again expresses a more alluring message.
Dominika needs to strike teasing poses but also deliver open and charming facial expressions at the same time.
To get an even more dynamic outcome I shoot a series using the “Dutch angle”-approach, meaning I tilt the camera and frame the model more tightly. This is a matter of taste but I like that approach every now and then.
Lighting Concept: Mixed Lighting Situation
This scene consists of a mixed lighting situation. I use flash heads with approx. 5,000 Kelvin degrees. But I put color gels in front of 2 heads: an orange and a blue one. This leads to a cast of different color temperatures: warm & cool. Then there’s the candle light which approximately shines at 3,000K.
So the mixture of color casts is predictable yet quite intentional.
For letting the candle light immerse nicely I drag the shutter to a 1/30 of a second and…- I increase the ISO to 640 to let even more warm light sink in.
Key Light: Separation & Modulation
A silver coated beauty dish acts as key light. I attach a grid to narrow down the light beam and to better control the direction. The size of the light beam is restricted but that’s OK because I want to have the visual spot on the Playmate’s head and breasts.
The dish creates decent catch lights and the eyes shine lively… – a glam shot with “dead eyes” would be a desaster!
In order to create the specific color mood I desire, I am using a total of 2 effect lights.
First, a small stripbox with a fabric grid and an orange gel is used for the hair- and rim light. This light is placed diagonally from the side behind the model and separates her perfectly from the blue, complimentary, colored background.
The second effect light serves as background fill. It’s equipped with a standard reflector, a grid and a blue gel. The blue color acts as complimentary element to the orange light but also to the flesh tones and the natural blonde hair color.
Last but not least there are the candles. They don’t play a major role for the illumination itself because their light is simply too weak. But the warm and glowy light supports the story beautifully.
